Founded in Kansas City, Missouri in 1971, Operation Breakthrough’s original mission was to address quality child-care needs for the working poor. The program started with 50 children but has since expanded to serving more than 400 children and families each day.
They provide children and families in need with a safe and educational environment. They support community members in a variety of ways, including on-site meals, health services, Early Childhood Education, and parent programming. They recently partnered with Eight-Seven & Running, Chiefs Travis Kelce’s non-profit organization, to open the Ignition Lab. Here, teenagers spend time gaining real-world experience in automotive, engineering, and other industries.
